Hi, I am Aaron H. Tornberg, Instructional Designer, Teacher, and Educational Techology Afficionado. I currently work for Computer Explorers teaching school-age students Filmmaking, Engineering, Video Game Design, Office applications, and much more. In 2006, I graduated with an Ed.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University otherwise known as Virginia Tech. When I arrived at Virginia Tech in 1999, I was part of a program called Science and Technology Studies. I then moved to the Instructional Technology Department, and worked on various projects that can be found in my Professional Development Portfolio. Related to my current work in Education, until 1998, I served as ITIE Graduate consultant for technology support and Adjunct Assistant Faculty and Doctoral Student at the University of Cincinnati Teachers College. My current goal is to help students understand the potential for technology in education. My research involves the investigation of Virtual Communities, Social Networks, and how to use technology creatively in the classroom. In 1997 I received a Master's Degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. I specialized in Technology in Education, a fascinating field of study. The link to Technology in Education at Harvard and Virginia Tech only scratches the surface of Instructional Technology.
There are many other aspects to me. I am a guitarist into folk music and other assorted types of aural enjoyment. I have a music blog set up at http://atornberg.wordpress.com, and I currently work and play music at Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead, MA. I have also been a soloist/music teacher at Temple Beth-El in Charlotte, NC, Rockdale Temple in Cincinnati, OH while I was a student in Cincinnati. Throughout college I was a teacher and musician for Holy Blossom Temple, Temple Sinai, Temple Emanu-El, and Temple Kol Ami in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute, is a camp where I worked as media specialist for eight years. This link will take you to a picture of me playing guitar there and also to a couple OSRUI pages. To hear some of my music in mp3 format and learn about some folk musicians I am rather fond of, click Music.
I now live in Danvers, MA and am married to the love of my life, Kim Tornberg. You can find us both on Facebook.
